Unser Team bewertete die Aufnahmen aus einer tierschutzfachlichen Perspektive. Wir verfassten einen ausführlichen, englischsprachigen Bericht und übergaben ihn Ende 2024 an Otwarte Klatki. Auf Grundlage unserer Ausarbeitung veröffentlichte die Organisation einen polnischen Report, der unsere Ergebnisse zusammenfasst und die Missstände in der Legehennenhaltung offenlegt.

Die Aufnahmen dokumentieren die Lebensbedingungen von Hennen in sogenannte ausgestalteten Käfigen (enriched cages). In der EU ist die Haltung von Legehennen in ausgestalteten Käfigen bis 2027 zulässig. In Deutschland bleibt diese Praxis bis Ende 2025 erlaubt, bevor ein Verbot der Käfighaltung in Kraft tritt. Die ausgestalteten Käfigsysteme bieten den Hühnern geringfügig mehr Platz und beinhalten einige grundlegende Elemente wie Sitzstangen, Scharrbereich und Nester.
In unserem Bericht identifizieren wir die gesundheitlichen Folgen von Bewegungsmangel, Stress und eingeschränkter sozialer Interaktion als zentrale Mängel in den untersuchten Haltungsbedingungen.
